MISSION BHARTIYAM CONDEMNS ATTACK ON RIGHTS ACTIVISTS

MISSION BHARTIYAM CONDEMNS ATTACK ON RIGHTS ACTIVISTS
Right Wing Activists Attacked SRINAGAR to IMPHAL JAN Karwan Members on 19 October at Delhi University When Karwan members were welcomed by Save Democracy Repeal AFSPA campaign and were marched at campus for public meeting.  This karwan is organized by Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign and started its journey on 16th Oct from Srinagar by Medha Patkar & Dr. Sandeep Pandey.
The nation is witnessing first time in its history that people from all parts of india have stood together and carrying out a jan karvan to send a message to government of India to listen demands of Irom sharmila.
Irom Sharmila is on hunger strike for almost 11 years, a protest that is longest in history of world. The objective of jan karvan of save sharmila solidarity campaign is to fight for justice and democratic rights of people of india apart from major demand with government of india to have a dialogue with irom sharmila.
The jan karvan is on a mission to travel from kasmir to imphal covering Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Aasam and Manipur while spreading the message of peace and harmony and to connect hearts of people. This mission is setting an example to inspire every state and human being to help and fight for the rightful cause of other state and individual. This karvan received great support and affection from people of Kashmir, Jammu, Ludhiana, Karnal, Panipat and finally reached to Delhi.
It is very unfortunate and sad that Jan Karvan has been attacked yesterday by some frivolous elements in north delhi (at DU campaus) while conducting a peaceful march and meeting. Later on instead of arresting attackers, jan karvan members were detained by Delhi Police.
Mission Bhartiyam which is integral part of SSSC condemns this act of hooligans very strongly. This heinous conduct is not only an attack on jan karvan members but also an attempt to derail the mission of peace, love and justice. Mission Bhartiyam is against severity and misuse of AFSPA and not indian armed forces. Even SSSC has received support from various family members of armed personals too.
Mission Bhartiyam requests to people of india to condemn this attack and support the cause as it is also and insult of 11 year's sacrifice of Irom Sharmila that is meant for people of this country and not for herself.

SRINAGAR to IMPHAL SAVE SHARMILA JAN KARWAN start 16 OCT SRINAGAR

PRESS RELEASE
Date: 16 OCT 2011
SRINAGAR
SRINAGAR to IMPHAL SAVE SHARMILA JAN KARWANstarted its 4500 Km. journey to highlight Irom Sharmila’s cause, who is on hunger protest since last 10 years for her demand to repeal AFSPA. The karwan is organized by Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign. Campaign is a joint initiative of various social organizations and movements who are extending their solidarity towards the cause.
Social activists from all parts have come here at Srinagar to start the journey. Around 25 activists first went to Hazratbal to offer their prayer for peace and harmony. Renowned activists Medha Patekar, Megsesay awardee Dr. Sandeep Pandey and Irom Singhjit (brother of Irom Sharmila) also came here for the karwan.
From Hazratbal, karwan arrived here at Pratap Park where activists addressed the public and talked to media. Medha Patekar, Dr. Sandeep Pandey, Parveena Ahenger (Chairman, Praents of Disappeared Person), Irom Singhjit (brother of Irom Sharmila) flagged off the karwan led by Faisal Khan. At the time many activists from J&K including Shahabul Haque, Dr. Raza Muzaffar, Firdoos Ahmed Bhawani, Shahnawaz Mir, Tanveer Hussain, Dr. Ghulam Rasool and activists from Manipur Irom Singhjit (brother of Irom Sharmila) and Babloo were alo present there.
Medha Patekar told that we all are against AFSPA and all such laws that violates basic human right. Violence is not recommended in any form. She told that democratic values are in danger everywhere in Kashmir and north east and thus we all started the journey from here to show or solidarity. She also told that cases of disappeared persons should also get listed and government should attend the issues during her address to public.
Megsesay awardee Dr. Sandeep Pandey told that we want to raise the issue of Irom among public. He also told that Kashmir should get enough respect and attention to establish democratic values perfectly.
Er. Ab. Rashid told that we are facing humiliations here and thus we welcome the move of all activists who are raising their voice towards humanity and human rights.
Faisal Khan informed that it is first time when any such journey is organized to protect democratic values and gandhian values. Irom has become a symbol of peace and a voice raise the issue of AFSPA. J&K is also affected from this law on one side and thus we all decided to start the journey from here. Karwan will travel through 10 states and will reach Imphal on 27th October. Mr. Khan told that we are organizing Srinagar to Imphal Jan Karwan to spread awareness about Irom Sharmila and to generate public support for her. Mr. Khan told that our main objective is to make public opinion about sufferings of people who are affected with AFSPA. We will conduct various activities such as pamphlet distribution, public meetings, press meet, nukkar natak etc, throughout the route. We will focus on states where people don’t know about irom and her cause and consequences of AFSPA. We believe that there is no place of such laws in democracy. We are against violencein any form and we oppose all such laws because these are unfit and non aligned with gandhian values. These laws are not dangerous for the public only, but these laws also created a rift between public and administration. We feel that public opinion in non victim states (where AFSPA is not imposed) to repeal AFSPA is very much required to save democracy and justice. He told that this journey will cover 10 states and around 4500 Km. It will move from Srinagar to Imphal via Jammu, Ludhiana, Karnal, Panipat, New Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Ranchi, Kolkata and Guwahati. Journey will start on 16th October and will reach Imphal on 27th October. On an average we will cover more than one crore of population with the demand to repeal AFSPA.
Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign told that the campaign has already launched nationwide protest. This is first time in history when any such campaign that is focused to repeal AFSPA has been launched in 21 states of India. Irom Sharmila, who is on hunger strike since the year 2000 has been ignored by government. Civil society has also not done much for the cause. AFSPA is imposed in J&K and NE states and many thousands people have been killed, tortured, lost in these states. Irom Sharmila is demanding to repeal AFSPA and she has become a symbol of peace and a strong voice against AFSPA. Hence, we all have to extend our support for her fight. J&K is affected with AFSPA on one side and NE states on another. Hence, the journey will start from Srinagar.
Activists of J&K told that we also support the Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign. We believe that it is our responsibility to extend our support towards the cause. We are victims of AFSPA and we are raising our voice since last many years. We have already seen many peace conferences and seminars in Kashmir but this is first time when a whole campaign is launched. I hope it will be a historical journey from Srinagar to Imphal because no such effort was made ever before. We welcome this move because AFSPA is the basic problem of Kashmir. People who are going towards larger population through this journey are really doing a nice job. We all are dedicated towards the cause. We all extending our support towards this campaign as the campaign is raising the basic issue of AFSPA which is important not only for J&K and NE states (victim states) but for other states too, as it will address the problems of democratic values.
Activists who are in karwan to meet with Irom Sharmila, includes Senior gandhians like Suresh Bhai (Bihar) & Balwant Yadav, Satya Prakash Bharat, Md. Iqbal, Asit Das, Gufran Khan, Adil Khan, Inamul Hasan, Ravi Nitesh, Ehsan Raza, Mahendra Sonawale, Md. Arish, Panakj Pathak, Bilal Kagzi, Ghulam Md. Gorsee, Shabbir, Sarwar, Ghulam Md. Will participate. Some women activists with Shahnaz from Gujrat also joined the karwan from Srinagar.
Campaign members told that many others will also join the karwan from many places of the route. This karwan will travel through Jammu, Ludhiana, Karnal, Panipat, New Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varansai, Patna, Ranchi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal.

NON VIOLENCE SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED.

PRESS RELEASE: LETTERS TO PM, President INC, Leaders of opposition (Lok sabha, Rajya Sabha)

PRESS RELEASE

As you already know that Save Sharmila Campaign, a joint initiative of civil societies (NAPM, Asha Parivar, Mahila Chetna Kendra, Mission Bhartiyam, Yuva Koshish, Khudai Khidmatgar, Jagriti Mahila Samiti, Sadbhavna Mission, Asian Centre of Social Studies and others) is extending its support to non violent struggle of Irom Sharmila Chanu, a lady of Manipur who is on hunger strike since the Year 2000.
We already had various activities such as Meetings, Candle Light Solidarity Prayer on 25 June at Rajghat and then volunteer meet with Irom Sharmila at Manipur.

Now, as per our scheduled plan, we have submitted the letters to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, President of Indian Natioanl Congress Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Leaders of opposition (Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha). We have submitted the letters to these people with the hope that they will acknowledge the sacrifice and non violent struggle of Ms Irom Sharmila Chanu. We have clearly stated our demands to initiate steps of positive talks, as we feel that this non violent struggle has been ignored by the side of government. We believe that when government can talk with other protestors (violent and non violent both), at the same time it is ignoring the struggle and demand of Irom Sharmila. North east states are already facing various other problems such as foriegn interference and lack of development. Government already imposed AFSPA there , which has been called draconian and lawless law by various national/international human rights agencies. In spite of these things, it is continuously ignoring the non violent voice of Irom Sharmila. We have demanded the government to initiate talk, to send all party delegation, to send members of NWC & NHRC and to send special team of doctors.

We believe that these steps, will be helpful not only in confidence building, but also will be helpful to bring out a peaceful and justified solution of the problem with mutual agreement.

apart from these, we have already planned for various other activites in coming months such as :
  • Cycle rally in New delhi to spread awareness about Irom,
  • Sri nagar to Imphal Yatra (via Jammu, Ludhiana, New Delhi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati) to spread awareness and to generate public support for Irom to be heard
  • National Signature campaign (from 02nd OCT to 10th DEC) followed by a Peace March
We are very thankful to our volunteers, organisations and to many media houses/persons who are extending their support to this campaign, which is in favor of Peace, Justice and Human Rights.
 Thanks

HUMAN CHAIN to express concern for victims of Mumbai bomb blast

To show our solidarity towards victims of Mumbai bomb blast
To show our unity against terrorism
HUMAN CHAIN
by
We the people of
INDIA & PAKISTAN
Venue: Rajghat, Time: 04:30 PM, 16 JULY 2011 Saturday
We the citizens of India and Pakistan strongly condemn the inhuman and dastardly serial blasts in Mumbai on 13th July 2011 in which 21 innocent people were killed and over 140 injured.  We offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and pray for quick and complete recovery of all those injured.
It is clear that these blasts are a well orchestrated heinous conspiracy to derail the resumption of the dialogue and peace process between India and Pakistan that was stalled following the terrorist attack in Mumbai in 2008.
It is a severe attempt to damage public harmony and peace and therefore it should be answered from the side of public by showing our unity and harmony in this time.
It is the time to show our unity to all those who want to sow the seeds of hate among public. It is the time to offer our condolences for those who lost their lives. It is the time to offer our sympathy to all victims.
Some of our friends from Pakistan who are working for Peace & Humanity, are here with us and will join us to show their concern for unity, peace & harmony.
We invite all of you to join us at RAJGHAT on Saturday 04:30 PM.
