Awam Ka Cinema is organizing its first Kargil Film Festival from 19-20 May 2012. Meaningful cinema that focuses on social issues rather than monetary has very limited audience which is often scattered and distributed across the different parts of the world. It becomes difficult for the filmmakers to reach out to such audience with this cinema. It is with this thought as the driving force that Awam Ka Cinema has been making relentless efforts for the past three years to organize the film festival in Kargil. It will be the first cultural festival of its kind in the history of Laddakh region. Some remarkable and meaningful films will be showcased during the festival. This film festival will prove to be an unusual gift for the people of Laddakh. The festival will also be an opportunity for the people from other states to enjoy good cinema in the midst of peaceful environment and scenic beauty of Laddakh.
Awam ka Cinema is organized as well as sponsored by a group of like minded friends. It had first started as a humble initiative in Ayodhya in 2006 and since then it has been making constant efforts to bring a wave of social and cultural change in the society. As a part of this initiative, we have organized film festivals in Ayodhya, Mau, Jaipur, Aurayya, Itawah, Delhi and Kashmir. The main motive behind this initiative has been to create a dialogue between people from different sections of society and country through the medium of art and cinema. This will open up a platform for people to express, share and understand each others joys and sorrows, situation and condition in life, a platform that will have infinite space for humanity. In an age and time when the pillars of democracy such as the parliament, legislature and even the media are ambitious about money rather than for the genuine issues of the people, the only hope for the people to develop cultural unity is through such efforts. It is only through people's mass movement that these institutions will realize and undertake their responsibility towards the citizens. The most important step to achieve this would be by creating a dialogue between the people.

Awam Ka Cinema has left no stones unturned to achieve this goal. We have also reached out to get the help and support from the well wishers and lovers of good cinema to create a platform for the making of good cinema. This initiative has been successfully organized without any sponsors so far and will continue to do so in the future.

We invite you to participate and support us in our efforts to raise people's issues and bring them to the forefront.
